Angels Injury News: RHP Sam Bachman Underwent Shoulder Surgery
USA TODAY Sports

As the Los Angeles Angels enter into the offseason, they have plenty of decisions to make regarding their roster for next season. The team could look very different, and it will be up to the front office to field a contender in 2024.

Right-hander Sam Bachman didn’t see much game action this season, but there is hope for him to be a member of the roster next season. He underwent surgery on his shoulder recently to get things cleaned up, according to Halos General Manager Perry Minasian.

“Right-hander Sam Bachman underwent an arthroscopic “clean up” on his shoulder, Minasian said. He is expected to be ready for spring training.”

Per Jeff Fletcher of The OC Register

In 17 innings of work for the Angels this season, Bachman posted an ERA of 3.11, a WHIP of 1.65 and he struck out 14 batters as well. He also added in one save earlier in the year against the Kansas City Royals before getting hurt. The Halos are high on him moving forward, and the hope is that the surgery should help things.

He spent some time in Triple-A this season, posting an ERA of 5.81 over six games played. Bachman was a first-round pick of the Angels back in 2021 when they took him ninth overall out of Miami University in Ohio.

Hopefully, his injury heals over the offseason, and he can make his return next season. He is still only 24 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to showcase his skillset and make an impact on this team.
