Kam Curl: Top 5 Free Agent Safety?
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Washington Commanders defensive back Kamren Curl is a free agent for the first time in his four-year career.

The 2020 seventh-round pick has spent his entire career with Washington, but he can now look elsewhere to continue his playing.

And he's expected to have a few suitors as The 33rd Team listed him as the fourth-best safety in this year's free agency class. Only Antoine Winfield Jr. (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Kyle Dugger (New England Patriots) and Xavier McKinney (New York Giants) are listed ahead of him.

Curl's future is one that has been discussed far and wide for more than a year now, and there's no resolution at this point.

While safeties have seen their position value fall, being top five in the group this offseason means this one won't have to worry about if he'll have a team and can just focus on where he goes, and for which deal.

Of course, defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. is going to have to figure out if and where Curl fits into his scheme if the team aims to retain him, but we figure given the coach's history of creativity and the player's proven record of versatility, if the two sides want to work together, they will.
